President and Chief Executive Officer, QVC Inc.
Mike George was named President of QVC, Inc. in November 2005 and Chief Executive Officer of QVC, Inc. in April 2006. Mike leads the QVC Group, which includes eight leading retail brands: QVC, HSN, zulily, Ballard Designs, Frontgate, Garnet Hill, Grandin Road, and Improvements.
In addition to being #1 in video commerce, the QVC Group is #3 in ecommerce in North America and #3 in mobile commerce in the U.S. (according to Internet Retailer). The QVC Group reaches over 360 million homes worldwide through 17 television networks (including a joint venture in China) and multiple ecommerce sites, social pages, mobile apps, print catalogs and in-store destinations.
Under Mike’s direction, the QVC Group has enhanced its reputation for offering consumers a different way to shop — one that combines the best of retail, media and social to create engaging shopping experiences. The QVC Group features curated collections of world-class and entrepreneurial products, presented in innovative ways, with outstanding customer service.
The QVC Group is comprised of QVC, Inc., HSN, Inc. (which includes Cornerstone Brands), and zulily, LLC, each of which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Interactive Corporation, attributed to the QVC Group tracking stock (NASDAQ: QVCA, QVCB).
Mike came to QVC, Inc. from Dell, Inc., where he was the Chief Marketing Officer and also led its U.S. consumer business. Prior to this, Mike was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co., Inc., and led the firm’s North American Retail Industry Group. He also served as a member of the firm’s partner evaluation committee.
Mike serves on the Board of Directors for Liberty Interactive Corporation, Brinker International, the National Retail Federation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the National Constitution Center, where he also chairs the corporate council. He also is a member of CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion. Mike served on the Payless ShoeSource Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006, and served on the Kimmel Center Board of Directors for six years.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and his master’s degree in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
