QVC Named a Fastest Growing Retailer by NRF

QVC is the #2 fastest growing non-store retailer and #14 across industries, according to the National Retail Federation’s STORES® Magazine’s Hot 100 Retailers list for 2016. 

The Hot 100 Retailer list ranks the nation’s fastest growing retailers by year-over-year domestic sales growth, based on 2015 sales estimates from Kantar Retail research and company reports. In STORES Magazine’s cover feature on its Hot 100 Retailers, QVC was highlighted as a major force among e-commerce vendors. 


“Non-store retailers are continuing to resonate with shoppers because they offer a distinct value proposition,” says Robin Sherk, a director of retail insights at Kantar Retail.


NRF STORE Magazine has also rated QVC highly in other rankings, placing #23 in the 2015 Favorite 50 Online Retail Stores and in #55 in the 2016 Top 100 Retailers.

Global Tour

United States

Our journey began in 1986 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with a Windsor shower radio and a vision to change retail shopping. In addition to the West Chester Campus, comprised of Studio Park and Founder’s Park, QVC US has two domestic call centers in Virginia and Texas and four distribution centers in Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and South Carolina.

United Kingdom

In 1993, QVC UK became our first foray into global expansion. And just four years later, it welcomed its 1 millionth customer. Today, the UK loyalty has not waivered, and our community has only strengthened. In addition to the broadcasting and administrative operations located in Chiswick, London, QVC has an additional operations, distribution and call center facility located in Knowsley (approximately 200 miles from London).

Germany

We expanded QVC's global footprint into Germany in 1996. Twenty years later, our Düsseldorf headquarters continues to attract a growing customer base. In fact, our distribution center in Hückelhoven ships more than 50,000 products a day. QVC Germany also has call centers in Bochum and Kassel.

Japan

You’ll find QVC Japan headquartered in Makuhari, with distribution facilities in Sakura City. In 2013, QVC Japan opened its new headquarters, QVC Square, in Chiba, about 25 miles outside of Tokyo. This iconic seven-story building features green technologies and was designed to foster cross-team collaboration across QVC's digital platforms.

Italy

In 2010, the city of Brugherio became our Italian home. Approximately nine miles from Milan, QVC Italy’s administrative offices, broadcast studios and call center are located in Brugherio, and the distribution center is located in Castel San Giovanni, also outside of Milan.

France

It’s the land of exceptional cuisine, fine wine, and haute couture fashion. It’s also the perfect place for our latest QVC expansion. QVC France was recently established in the summer of 2015. The broadcasting and administration facilities are located in Seine-St-Denis, NW France, just outside of Paris.

China (JV)

In 2012, we formed a joint venture with Chinese National Radio (CNR) to bring QVC to China. CNR Mall offers television programming and an e-commerce site to millions of households across the world’s largest country. The joint venture’s  broadcast operations, call center and distribution center are located in Beijing with two additional distribution centers located in Nanjing and Changchun.

Leadership

Mike George
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mike George was named president of QVC, Inc., in November 2005 and chief executive officer in April 2006. He is responsible for overseeing QVC’s operations worldwide, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, France and our joint venture in China.

 

Under Mike's leadership, QVC has become a premier lifestyle brand and shopping destination. QVC is now one of the world’s largest multiplatform retailers, with QVC TV reaching more than 350 million homes worldwide, and QVC’s eCommerce sites receiving 991 million visits in 2015.

 

Mike came to QVC from Dell, Inc., where he was the chief marketing officer and general manager of its US consumer business. In this role, he was responsible for building the Dell brand globally, developing its global e-business and CRM capabilities, and leading its $8 billion US consumer business. Prior to his time with Dell, Mike was a senior partner at McKinsey & Co., Inc., and led the firm’s North American Retail Industry Group. He also served as a member of the firm’s partner evaluation committee.

 

Mike serves on the board of directors for Liberty Interactive Corporation, Brinker International, the Kimmel Center, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Business Council. He is also chair of the Corporate Council for the National Constitution Center. He served on the Payless ShoeSource Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006.

 

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and his master’s degree in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Larry  Hayes 
Legal and Compliance

Larry Hayes was named senior vice president and general counsel in March 2008. In this position, Larry manages all aspects of QVC’s legal, internal audit, ethics and compliance, and government affairs departments.

 

Beginning in 2000, Larry served as vice president of legal and assistant secretary. In this position, he provided legal advice and services to QVC’s information technology, facilities and human resources departments, as well as QVC.com. He also supervised outside attorneys in commercial and litigation matters. Larry began his QVC career in 1992 in the role of associate counsel and, in 1998, was promoted to senior counsel.

 

Prior to joining QVC, Larry was an attorney for seven years at the Philadelphia law firm of Mesirov, Gelman, Jaffe, Cramer & Jamieson.

 

He graduated cum laude from the Temple University School of Law, and earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University. Larry is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

 

Rob Muller

Customer and Business Services

 

Rob Muller was named senior vice president, customer and business services in July 2015. He is responsible for end-to-end customer fulfillment, including customer service, customer experience, supply chain management, quality and distribution for QVC globally.

 

He also oversees the company’s real estate portfolio, workplace services and retail and outlet stores. Rob and his team work to deploy best practices across all markets to enhance the customer contact, delivery and returns experiences, and deliver an outstanding workplace experience for team members across the globe.

 

Rob previously served as QVC’s senior vice president of US Strategic Planning and Analytics. In this position, he led the strategy and portfolio management, consumer insight and advance analytics, and business planning, forecasting, and analysis teams, who provided business relevant consumer and market insight for QVC US

 

Previously, he held the roles of senior vice president of customer distribution services at QVC, vice president of quality and supply chain, and vice president of distribution corporate operations. He first joined QVC in 2001 as director of distribution planning and analysis.

 

Prior to joining QVC, Rob served as the director of operations for eToys.com. Before eToys.com, he held numerous operations management positions at The Franklin Mint.

 

Rob earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of New Jersey.

Mary Campbell
Commerce Platforms

Mary Campbell was named executive vice president, commerce platforms in July 2014. In this role, Mary leads broadcast production and technology, interactive and digital, platform development and distribution, content, and customer marketing for QVC globally. She and her team are responsible for leveraging the unique capabilities of TV, web, mobile, tablet and social – while translating the QVC brand across all platforms to drive customer engagement and sales.

 

Under Mary’s leadership of commerce platforms, QVC has achieved the largest television reach, ecommerce and mobile penetration, and customer base in our history. With Mary’s guidance, QVC has garnered global recognition as a leading ecommerce and mobile retailer, including ranking #8 among multi-category retailers and #13 across all industries on the 2016 Internet Retailer Mobile 500 list.

 

Since joining QVC in 1991, Mary has held various positions across the merchandising, planning and commerce platforms functions. She has worked to identify and attract several strategic brands and concepts to QVC.

 

Prior to QVC, Mary spent five years with Target in merchandising.

 

Mary was recognized in Multichannel News’ Women to Watch in 2016, Cablefax’s 2015 and 2014 Most Powerful Women in Cable and Main Line Today’s 2015 Power Women.

 

Mary earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Connecticut State University.

Steve  Hofmann

International

Steve Hofmann was named president, international in July 2015. In this position, he is responsible for driving growth and ensuring outstanding execution in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, France and our joint venture in China, and for ensuring that global services and resources are being effectively deployed to serve QVC’s international markets.

 

From May 2012 to July 2015, Steve was chief executive officer of QVC Europe, providing leadership to all European markets, including business oversight, market expansion, and Europe-wide coordination and support. He also served as CEO for QVC Germany during 2014 and CEO of QVC Italy from 2010 through 2013, establishing the framework for operations in that country. Previously, he served as CEO for QVC UK.

 

Steve has significant international experience in television and television retailing industries achieved through relevant roles in America, Europe and Asia. He joined QVC in 2007 from Jupiter Shop Channel in Japan, where he served as co-CEO. He also served as CFO for Jupiter TV, Japan’s largest multichannel television provider. In addition to his experience in television retailing, Steve has a wealth of global television experience, having worked with NBC in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore, and serving as CFO of NBC’s Asian operations. Steve started his career at Price Waterhouse.

 

Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lehigh University.

Doug Rose
Brand and Communications

Doug Rose was named senior vice president, brand and communications in July 2015. In this role, Doug leads brand strategy, communications and corporate social responsibility across all markets.

 

Prior to his current role, Doug served as senior vice president of marketing, leading the teams responsible for programming, public relations, marketing, creative resources and brand development.  Doug has played an instrumental role in introducing many respected brands to QVC, with a primary focus on the US business. He also initiated several “firsts” at QVC, including QVC’s first transactional programming agreement with another major television network, as well as alliances with several traditional retailers.

 

Doug began his career at QVC in 1994 as director of consumer marketing, where he managed the company’s consumer advertising, direct marketing and sponsorship programs. He later served as vice president of merchandising brand development, supervising QVC’s vendor relations department and introducing new brands to QVC. Following that, he was vice president of programming and marketing.

 

Prior to joining QVC, Doug spent 12 years in advertising at Ketchum Advertising, Young & Rubicam and Hal Riney & Partners.

 

Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Colgate University.

Linda Dillman

Information Technology

 

Linda Dillman was named chief information officer in January 2012. In this role, she develops QVC’s global information technology vision and strategy in partnership with QVC’s global senior leadership, and oversees the IT teams in all QVC markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, France and our joint venture in China.  Under Linda’s leadership, QVC’s IT organization works to deliver a high-quality, seamless, multiplatform, engaging shopping experience for customers.

 

Linda began her distinguished career as a computer operator. She previously spent 18 years with Wal-Mart, holding positions of increasing responsibility, including executive vice president and CIO. Subsequent to Wal-Mart, she held leadership positions at Hewlett-Packard, including senior vice president of Global IT.

 

A seasoned leader, Linda was recently named to the Top 10 Women in Tech list by Chain Storage Age magazine and a 2015 Top IT Pro by the Philadelphia Business Journal. She has also been recognized as a Computerworld Premier 100 IT leader for 2014 and a Most Powerful Women in Cable by CableFAX magazine for the past two years. Additionally, Linda was named to Fortune's 50 Most Powerful Women in Business for five consecutive years.

 

Linda is on the board of directors for Cerner, the leading US supplier of healthcare information technology solutions. She was also recently appointed to the GS1 US Board of Governors. Linda earned her degree in business administration from the University of Indianapolis.

Doug Howe
Merchandising 

Doug Howe was named executive vice president, merchandising in July 2015. In this role, he leads buying, planning and programming for QVC globally. He oversees the strategies for major global brands, the introduction and development of new vendors, and the design, development and global sourcing department.

 

From February 2010 to July 2015 he was executive vice president of merchandising and planning, leading these teams to implement a strategic vision for each category, with a primary focus on the US  He previously served as executive vice president of strategic multichannel planning and merchandising.

 

Doug joined QVC in 2001 as vice president of merchandising, fashion and beauty. Doug played an instrumental role in the continued growth of QVC’s fashion business, and further developed and refined many of the company’s proprietary programs. Additionally, Doug identified and introduced a number of select, upscale national brands that helped to strengthen QVC’s role as a leading beauty and fashion retailer.

 

Bringing more than 20 years of merchandising experience to QVC, Doug previously served as EVP of product design and development for Old Navy. Prior to Old Navy, Doug served as senior vice president of strategy, design and development for Walmart. Before his promotion to senior vice president, he served as vice president of product development for apparel and accessories at Walmart, later broadened to product development for apparel and home.

 

Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Creighton University.  

Beth  Rubino
Human Resources

Beth Rubino was named executive vice president, human resources in November 2011. In this position, Beth is responsible for overseeing QVC’s global efforts in talent acquisition and development, talent management, organizational development, employee experience, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, and total rewards. Beth is accountable for more than 17,000 QVC team members worldwide.

 

She previously served as senior vice president of human resources and workplace services for the US market. Other positions held during Beth’s QVC career include vice president of human resources operations and services, responsible for talent acquisition and training for all US locations; and director of human resources operations and services, responsible for all human resources functions within the call centers and distribution centers, supporting nearly 10,000 team members. Beth joined QVC in 1995 as director of human resources training and development.  

 

Prior to joining QVC, Beth served as general manager of the Philadelphia call center for PECO Energy. She also served as the director of training, management and organization development for PECO Energy.

 

Beth earned her bachelor’s degree in business from Ursinus College and her master’s degree in organizational development and training from St. Joseph’s University. Beth also received a certificate from the executive development program at the Harvard Business School. Beth is passionate about leveraging talent, culture and values based leadership as the competitive advantage for our global enterprise.

Matt Goldberg
Corporate Development

Matt Goldberg was named senior vice president, corporate development in July 2015. He leads efforts to identify, develop, select and execute opportunities for QVC to expand globally, including entering new markets, making acquisitions and investments, establishing strategic alliances, exploring new industry segments, reaching new audiences, and offering new products and services.

 

Matt’s team led the “green field” build of QVC France, which launched in June 2015, and the $2.4 billion acquisition of zulily, which closed in October 2015.

 

Matt has more than 20 years of experience in M&A, global business development, new market entry, strategy and operations. Prior to joining QVC, Matt served as chief executive officer of Lonely Planet, where he drove the company’s geographic expansion into China, Brazil and India. Matt also worked at Dow Jones & Company, where his responsibilities included the chief operating role for The Wall Street Digital Network, including WSJ.com, MarketWatch, Barrons.com and All Things Digital. Matt also held several positions at Bertelsmann, Inc., and began his career in public service in Illinois and Australia.

 

Matt serves as an adviser and board member for several nonprofits, including Lumina Foundation, The Conversation Media Group, Cornell University Council, The University of Melbourne USA Foundation, and The Burning Man Project.

 

Matt earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University. He earned a master’s degree in international relations from University of Melbourne, Australia, and later obtained his MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Ted  Jastrzebski
Finance and Strategy

Ted Jastrzebski was named executive vice president and chief financial officer in July 2013. He is responsible for overseeing finance and strategy for all QVC markets, including strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, customer understanding and business analytics, accounting, payables, payroll, customer finance, tax, treasury and strategic procurement.

 

Ted has over 20 years of experience in business and finance leadership roles for global consumer brands. He began his career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he was instrumental in the launch of P&G Poland and the turnaround of P&G Egypt, and helped accelerate P&G’s growth on the Indian subcontinent.

 

Prior to joining QVC, Ted served as president of Hershey International and Hershey Americas, delivering record sales, profits and market share in both divisions. During this time, he guided regional and country start-ups, turnarounds and earnings accelerations, and navigated numerous acquisitions and joint ventures. He also served as CFO of two major international charities: Project HOPE and CARE, the world’s largest private relief and development organization.

 

Ted earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University and his MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.

More than that, they’re part of our community. They interact with our program hosts. And they connect with our customer in a real way. Entrepreneurs

Our customer loves to discover new things. And so do we. At QVC, we’re always on the lookout for the next big idea, that new item that’s going to make her life easier, more comfortable, or just a bit more fun. Finding talented entrepreneurs and helping them introduce their products is something we’re passionate about—and have been from the start. It’s how brands like It Cosmetics, Junior’s Cheesecakes and Lori Greiner came to be the household names they are today. And it’s one of the ways we continue to surprise and delight the QVC customer.
