New Livestreams Hub on QVC.com Features Enhanced Video Shopping Experiences

Multichannel

January 18, 2022: Select livestreams on QVC.com now feature integrated live chat along with the ability to like and purchase products for an even more immersive and engaging video shopping experience on our ecommerce site.

The enhanced events are available in QVC’s new livestreaming hub, QVC Livestreams, which also includes a schedule of upcoming livestreams and a video-on-demand (VOD) library of past events. In the hub, QVC vendors are inviting shoppers into digitally native, livestream conversations, while QVC is turning digital simulcasts of linear TV shows into social shopping events. The new experience is being powered by technology from Bambuser.

“We’re empowering our QVC shoppers to engage with us in more direct, meaningful ways than ever before, creating digital experiences that feel every bit as ‘live and alive’ as our linear broadcasts do,” said Brian Beitler, Chief Marketing Officer, QVC US and HSN. “Plus, with these new tools, we and our vendors can easily and efficiently test different livestreaming formats, lengths and themes on our ecommerce site and see what resonates. We’re building out QVC Livestreams as a destination for online shoppers who want to have fun, informal conversations with experts and celebrities.”

Previous examples include QVC style expert and vendor, Kim Gravel (seen above), who recently hosted an original event with the new tools in the livestreams hub and attracted hundreds of likes and comments; Mally Roncal, Founder of Mally Beauty, who presented a digitally native beauty seminar in the hub; and Scott Grimes, Creative Director for JAI jewelry, who hosted a live video chat on jewelry trends.

This weekend (January 21 and 22), QVC will present 11 original livestreams with live chat and likes on QVC.com as part of our “Master Beauty Class” event, which will run for 48 straight hours across our broadcast, streaming, digital and social platforms. Six original livestreams will debut on the website on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. ET, and five will debut on Saturday during the same period.

Dan Murray, Sr. Vice President, Digital Commerce, QVC US and HSN, noted that the new tools will streamline QVC’s efforts to tap new content creators and micro-influencers on QVC.com and host pop-up digital shops, live brand premieres and product drops, tutorials and how-to videos, post-purchase chats, watch parties, behind-the-scenes sneak peaks, live Q&As with celebrities, and more.

The enhanced livestreaming capabilities complement and expand QVC’s robust foundation in video commerce (“vCommerce”) across linear TV channels, ecommerce sites, digital streaming and social platforms. Together with our sister brand, HSN, we reach more than 200 million homes worldwide via 14 television networks and reach millions more via multiple streaming services, social pages, mobile apps and websites. QVC and HSN achieve unparalleled customer engagement in their TV broadcasts, with more than 60 billion minutes viewed each year on the U.S. broadcast channels1, and hundreds of millions of units purchased and shipped. Hosts have been responding to customer comments on-air for years, starting with live customer calls during the shows and now largely based on the live dialog happening on the retailers’ social pages.
