Aaron Krause, creator of the innovative Scrub Daddy sponge, won EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the Retail and Consumer products category.
Krause was among 13 award winners across as many categories, selected by an independent panel of judges. EY presented the award at a special gala in Philadelphia on June 9, 2016.
The Scrub Daddy sponge is made of highly engineered polymer that changes texture in water temperature. It surged in popularity after appearing in a number of segments on QVC in 2012. Shortly afterwards, Krause appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank and partnered with QVC on-air guest and Shark Tank judge Lori Greiner to expand the business. Since the brand launched on QVC, it has sold more than 1.4 million units.
In his acceptance speech, Krause thanked QVC and Greiner for their key roles in Scrub Daddy’s story.
“Tonight, I would like to thank the visionaries before me, who inspired me, and who are my mentors,” Krause said, “disruptive entrepreneurs whose foresight and relentless nature showed me the path to follow for success, and that everything was, in fact, possible.”
He closed with a few words of advice for all entrepreneurs: “Stay passionately innovative and relentless, my friends!”
